The purpose of the SMSU Agriculture Club is to supplement the education of agriculture students at SMSU through practical experience, to promote the pursuit of agriculture as a career, to develop the community's understanding of agriculture professions, and to familiarize the club with the role of agricultural companies. The Agriculture Club sponsors activities and lectures; as well as interacts with agricultural businesses in Marshall and the surrounding area.

BEA is the premiere international academic media organization, driving insights, excellence in media production, and career advancement for educators, students, and professionals. The association’s publications, annual convention, web-based programs, and regional district activities provide opportunities for juried production competition and presentation of current scholarly research related to aspects of the electronic media. These areas include media audiences, economics, law and policy, regulation, news, management, aesthetics, social effects, history, and criticism, among others. BEA is concerned with electronic media curricula, placing an emphasis on interactions among the purposes, developments, and practices of the industry and imparting this information to future professionals. BEA serves as a forum for exposition, analysis and debate of issues of social importance to develop members’ awareness and sensitivity to these issues and to their ramifications, which will ultimately help students develop as more thoughtful practitioners.

The Center for International Education (CIE) at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) serves students from around the world and the wider community to promote international education and cross-cultural understanding.

CIE provides advice, counseling, and advocacy regarding international student visas, academic issues and personal matters for international students.

CIE serves the wider university community by supporting study abroad initiatives and promoting a campus environment conducive to international education and intercultural awareness via educational, social, and cross-cultural programming.

The Chemistry Club has been in existence since 1972. The chemistry club at SMSU strives to maintain an active chapter in a variety of ways. One of our primary activities is outreach with area K-12 schools. We love sharing our enthusiasm for science and trying to inspire future scientists. We do this in part by performing demonstration shows and making by liquid nitrogen ice cream. We do on-campus shows for specific school groups, with hands-on activities when possible. We also take our show on the road and travel to area schools for demonstration shows and hands-on activities. Additionally, we participate in the SMSU Homecoming Parade, attend ACS-sponsored webinars, visit graduate programs of universities in our region, invite area chemists and alumni to speak, and attend ACS Meetings. We try to keep our activities fun and interesting and continually try to recruit new club members from our existing and incoming student population. We hope they love sharing and doing chemistry as much as we do!

The SMSU Chorale is the university's elite, mixed choral ensemble. The ensemble specializes in the performance of a wide range of sacred and secular choral literature of all historical periods, voicings, and nationalities. Repertoire includes unaccompanied works for a cappella choir as well as works performed with professional instrumental ensembles. The SMSU Chorale is open to all students, regardless of major, by audition. Students who are interested in participating should enroll in MUS 355.

The Computer Science Club unites students eager about algorithms, competitive programming, cloud computing, Agile methodology, machine learning, and more! We exchange real-world insights from internships and explore available paths for undergrads.

The SMSU Computer Science Club is open to ANY student. We meet once a week, Thursdays from 3 to 5 pm. The club is full of bright, friendly individuals looking to get more out of college. We work on and discuss everything from websites, algorithms, programming contests (such as Digi-Key DKC, ICPC, and Data Derby), artificial intelligence, cloud computing, project management, applications, hardware, robotics, 3D printing, and more. There are also senior students with on-the-job experience willing to discuss the most important skills to practice.
